TevfikArif – A Successful Turkish Businessman\r\nTevfikArif is a successful Turkish businessman, investor, and real estate developer. He originates from the Soviet Union where he was born in 1953. Arif’s birth name was TofikArifov and his birthplace is in the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, in the city called Dzhambul (today’s Taraz). \r\nArif was a dedicated student and managed to graduate from the University of Moscow with a degree in International Relations. Before the Soviet Union fell apart, he got appointed by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce of the Soviet Union. In fact, he had held his positions at that institution for 17 years. The most significant post he held was the Hotel Management Department’s Deputy Director. \r\nIt was in 1991 when Arif left the ministry and started his own business career. The first company he established was Specialty Chemicals Trading. It focused on importing and exporting raw materials, chrome, and rare metals. Trans World Group from Kazakhstan, specializing in natural resources, hired him at the position of an agent.\r\nIn 1993, Arif makes a decision to move to Turkey. It may have been partly motivated by the fact that he has owned Alset Dis Ticaret, a jewelry business there, since 1979. It seems those have been successful years for Turkish businessman, which enabled him to open a luxury resort in Antalya in partnership with the hotel chain Rixos.\r\nHe remained active in Kazakhstan, too, and acquired Aktobe’s chromium plant following the independence of this country. Together with his brother and Kazakh businessmen, he participated in developing high-end real estates in Turkey, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.\r\nTevfikArif founded the Bayrock Group in 2001 when he decided to expand his business to the US soil. He initially focused on Brooklyn where he rebuilt a luxury shopping center. Thanks to moving the office to Trump Tower, Arif got the chance to meet Donald Trump, billionaire and the current president of the United States.\r\nThe two businessmen agreed on a Trump SoHo licensing deal while Arif connected Trump with Russian investors. Together, they handled project across Europe and US. Among other things, they worked on the Fort Lauderdale’s Trump International Hotel and Tower.\r\nArif founded Doyen Sports Investment together with his family. The agency is in charge of participating in football transfers. Although it was founded in 2011, it quickly positioned itself as the leading in the industry and took part in Neymar’s transfer to Barcelona in 2013.\r\nAccording to recent information, Arif currently resides in Turkey, although he has a manor in Port Washington, New York. It is interesting to mention that he donates to the local Chabad even though he is not Jewish.
