Name: Evangelos Marinakis
Evangelos Marinakis was born in 1967 in the port city of Piraeus. He is the son of Miltiadis Marinakis, a politician and ship owner from Crete. His mother is Irene Karakatsanis, whose family hail from the Pontus region and descends from the eminent Ypsilantis family. \\r\\nEvangelos attended a public school in Piraeus, and also in Watford, England. He received his Master\\\'s Degree in \\\'International Relations\\\' in England. \\r\\nDestined for more than the local environment, Evangelos Marinakis became an international businessman and investor. He came up the ladder in the shipping industry learning the ins and outs of the business. Evangelos eventually became Founder and Chairman of Capital Maritime Trading Corp. \\r\\nUnder Evangelos’ drive and vision, Capital Maritime Trading Corp now offers services in every aspect of ship management. These services range from IT services, human resources management, safety management, claims and insurance, as well as providing training with cutting edge technology. The company excels in its performance gaining recognition by both major traders and major oil companies.\\r\\nIt currently has an operating fleet of 60 vessels and has an overall tonnage of approximately 9 million tons. Capital Maritime Trading consistently invested in the tanker, container, and dry bulk segments over the years. Because of this strategic maneuver, this has led them to be a very formable foe in the shipping industry receiving numerous awards such as: \\r\\nIn 2017, shipping industry British publication Lloyd\\\'s List voted Evangelos its \\\"Greek Shipping Personality of the Year\\\". \\r\\nIn July of 2017, Capital Ship Management Corp. was selected as a finalist in the 2017 Lloyd’s List Global Awards for the following four categories: ‘Company of the Year’, ‘Class NK Tanker Operator of the Year’, ‘Containership Operator of the Year’ and ‘Dry Bulk Operator of the Year’.\\r\\nIn May 2014, Capital was the first company worldwide to receive independent verification and certification by Lloyds Register of Shipping in accordance with the \\\"IMO Strategic Concept of a Sustainable Shipping Industry» ensuring effective measurement of progress and client awareness of key performance indicators as well as supporting LNG as fuel in a joint development project.\\r\\nThese are just a sampling of the awards acquired by Capital Maritime Trading under the tutelage of Evangelos Marinakis.
