  1. service mysql stop
  2. /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-grant-tables &
  3. mysql --user=root mysql
  4.     update user set Password=PASSWORD('new-password-here') WHERE User='root';
  5.     flush privileges;
  6.     exit
  7. fg
  8. Control + C
  9. service mysql start
