Freenode / Chanserv supports private channels, but the system is amusingly aggressive about kickbanning users without proper authentication. For even greater levity, the ban applies not just to you but to everyone accessing the internet through your host. Of course, being the sort of person who will SET SECURE ON in the first place, I think that sort of thing is cute rather than annoying ^-^
